Rhuul and Avalea

Meet Nulli Para Ora’s characters from Rhuul’s Flame. Nulli has granted me the pleasure of speaking to her characters.

Nikki: What are your main characters names?: Nulli: Rhuul and Avalea

Nikki: Do they have nicknames/pet names?: Rhuul: "I call her, Lea, but it’s my nick name for her. I do not allow anyone else to use it."

Nikki:  What was your life like growing up? Avalea: "I had a great childhood. My parents are very into the outdoors and nature. We spent a lot of time outside, learning, loving, and respecting life."
Rhuul: "I despise my family. If they all died today, I wouldn’t bat an eye. They never wanted me, treated me like I was beneath contempt. It’s not my fault that I was born as I am."
Avalea takes his hand and holds it in her lap.

Before your story began, what were your hopes for the future? Ruul: "That’s easy. Get the hell out of Karn, my father’s realm. I’m an outsider there. A half breed in a society obsessed with its own so called greatness. Bunch of narcissistic bastards." *Lifts his large leathery wings high on his back* I’m not like anyone else there, especially with these."
Avalea: "I am also a child of two very different races. I didn’t experience any shame for what I am, but balancing the powers of my heritage can be hard." *runs her fingers through the green flames of her hair* "Being half fire elemental can—"

Rhuul: "She’s a hot head with a temper like you wouldn’t believe."

Avalea rolls her eyes and let’s go of Rhuul’s hand. "Well, if some people wouldn’t spend so much time trying to piss me off."

Rhuul: "See what I mean?"

Nikki: What changed that?

Rhuul: "Nothing changed for me. I still hate them, hate Karn, and have no use for the people of that realm."
Avalea: "Still? After what you’ve learned?"

Rhuul stares deep into Avalea’s eyes, his face hard and unyielding. "You’re not going to change a lifetime of disgust by performing one act."

Nikki: How would you describe your personality?

Avalea: "I’m usually pretty easy going."

Rhuul: "Pfft."

Avalea: "What? What’s that mean?"

Rhuul: "Easy going? You’re about as laid back as a rock slide."

Avalea narrows her eyes and folds her arms across her chest. "Well, you’re a stubborn brute with no respect for anything."

Rhuul: "Respect is earned, Lea. I respect you, but it doesn’t mean I’m going to turn into some tree hugging Omala like you."
Avalea: "We don’t hug trees!"

Rhuul chuckles while Avalea blows out a breath. "Careful. You’re going to burn something." *looks up at the flames of her hair whipping near the ceiling*

Nikki:  How would you describe your looks?

Rhuul: "My looks? I look like a cross between a Celestan and an Eidon."
Avalea: "They don’t know what that means, Rhuul." *shakes her head* "He’s pretty tall, around 6’5" with deep bronze skin, a medium, muscular build, large wings, as you can see, eyes like cinders, and he’s bald." *smiles* "And as sexy as he is rude."

Rhuul smirks. "No one’s that rude, Lea."

Avalea: "I swear…"
Rhuul: "Since she described me, I’ll describe her. Lea’s just a bit shorter than me. She has long green hair that’s usually on fire and brown skin. Her eyes are green too, and they flicker like little balls of flame. She’s narrow at the waist, but her hips are round and fit my hands just right. She has the most perfect breasts you’ve ever seen and—"
Avalea rubs the back of her neck and blushes. "Rhuul, I don’t think she needs that much detail."

Rhuul: "When we leave here, I’ll go over all of the details."

What’s your greatest talents? "Rhuul: "I’m a conjurer. I use my magic to summon weapons, money, and other items.

Avalea: "If we’re talking about our powers, mine lie in nature and fire. I can use the power of life around me to gain energy, heal illnesses, and nurture the earth. I can also channel my fire and use it to attack."

Who are your closest friends? Avalea: "Ghena is my closest friend. He’s a fiend, a tiny, furry being. He’s been with me through a lot."
Rhuul: "I don’t have any friends."

Nikki: Who do you love?

Rhuul: "I didn’t love anything or anyone. I had no reason to. But sometimes things change." *looks at Avalea and grins*

Avalea: "Yes they do. Who would have guessed my life mate would be a killer?"

Nikki: Who do you hate, and why?

Rhuul: "I hate my father and grandfather for the way they treated me."
Avalea: "I hate what they did to him."

Nikki: What do you think is going to happen next?

Rhuul: "I’m going to find a realm of my own to rule. There was no place for me growing up. I’m going to make one."
Avalea: "And I’ll be by your side."

Nikki:  What do you love about the hero/heroine?:

Avalea: "I love how driven he is, even if it’s sometimes single minded."
Rhuul: "I love her ability to think on her feet. She’s not weak, and that’s something I admire."

Nikki:  What do you think of your author Nulli Para Ora?

Avalea: "She could have chosen to make me a simpering, helpless twit, but she didn’t. I’m grateful for that. I like thinking for myself and putting my foot down."
Rhuul: "She put me through a lot creating me as she did, but she made me strong and resilient. As much as I hate to say it, I’m glad she created a few of the other characters too. I learned a few things on this journey she set me on, and I think I’m better for it."

Nikki:  Did she get your story right?

Rhuul: "Well, she could have put more emphasis on my muscles, but for the most part, I’d say yes."
Avalea sighs. "The story is called Rhuul’s Flame, not Rhuul’s Muscles. I see your Eidon megalomania is getting the best of you."

Nikki: Do you want another story to show what happened next?

Avalea: "From what I know, this is the first of several adventures. There is more to see after we leave off."
Rhuul conjures two swords into his hands. "Who wouldn’t want more of this?"

Nikki: Thank you Rhuul, Avalea and most especially Nulli Para Ora for this fantastic character interview.

Bio:

I’m a romance author who writes in multiple genres. A lover of languages, anime, martial arts, video games, nature, and music, I am inspired by everything from the profound to the mundane.

Whether it’s crafting a new realm, an alien planet, a new species, or an alternate reality, you can always count on twists and turns in my tales. Love can be irrational, undeniable, blissful, erotic, and sometimes frustrating, but it’s also universal, binding hearts across cultures and time.  Step into one of my worlds and stay awhile.

Storm Season by Nicola Cameron

Thanks for letting me come on your blog today! I’m really excited about the release of Storm Season — not only is it my first full-length novel, it’s also the first book in my Olympic Cove series, which is best described as "Humans, Greek Gods, and mythological creatures must band together in Florida to save Earth from an insane deity who wants to remake the planet in its own diseased image. No pressure." The entire series is fantasy erotic romance with science fiction and action/adventure elements; pairing-wise, the first two books in the series are MMM, the third and fifth books are MMF, the fourth book is MMMFF (oh, I’m looking forward to writing THAT), and the sixth book is MF. Yeah, I was never all that good about coloring inside the lines…

clip_image002BLURB:

Ian West had his summer all planned out — go down to Florida, stay in his family’s beach cottage on Olympic Cove, and work on his science fiction novel. But his plans get thrown for a loop when gorgeous twin sea gods Bythos and Aphros show up in the cove and inform him he’s their fated consort.

As if that wasn’t enough, something in the Gulf of Mexico is turning mermaids into legendary monsters and gods into demons. Now, Ian not only has to navigate the complicated waters of a ménage relationship with twin sea gods, he also has to stop an insane deity and save the whole damn planet.

No pressure.

EXCERPT

“So … you just waited for me? All this time?”

“Yes,” Bythos said. “And you finally returned to us, and dreamed of us as we dreamed of you.” With care, he slid an arm around Ian. “I meant what I said earlier. We will never harm you, and we will never force you into anything you don’t want to do. But we need you, Ian, just as you need us.”

“We do need you,” Aphros said, moving in to lay the softest of kisses on Ian’s shoulder. “You’re the sun and the moon to us. We’ve dreamed about you for so long. Please, Ian, let us love you.”

Ian shivered at the softness of the demigod’s lips as they feathered along his shoulder, tracing the curve to his neck. His desire bloomed again, a warm heaviness settling in his groin. “You dreamed about me?” he whispered.

“Every night,” Aphros said. “You have no idea how you tormented us with your skin, the sounds you made.”

“And your taste,” Bythos murmured, leaning in now and brushing the tip of his tongue over Ian’s skin. “I can’t describe how delicious you are. You taste like everything good in the world. Like home.”

“Like ours,” Aphros said.

Ian moaned at the sensation of their mouths on his neck, their hands wandering across his chest, plucking gently at his nipples. “Oh, God,” he breathed.

“Gods, actually,” Aphros said, lifting his mouth from Ian’s neck for a moment. “Well, demigods, but still.”

“Aph, shut up,” Bythos said, sliding a broad, warm palm around Ian’s jaw and pulling him closer. “We have better things to do.”

BIO

Nicola Cameron is an expatriate Chicagoan who has lived in England, Canada, Holland, and Sweden, and keeps a confusing amalgamation of languages in her head as a result. Currently located in the clavicle of Texas, she has finally mastered the proper use of "y’all," much to her Chicago family’s dismay.

Despite a healthy interest in sex since puberty, it wasn’t until 2012 that Nicola decided to try writing about it. As it turned out, the skills she picked up during her SF writing career transferred rather nicely to erotic romance. When not writing, she wrangles cats, smooches her husband, makes dolls of dubious and questionable identity, and thanks almighty Cthulhu that she doesn’t have to work for a major telecommunications company any more (because there’s BDSM, and then there’s just plain torture…).
