Coming on November 17, 2013, from JMS Books LLC.

Blurb

Actor Sean O’Reilly received a bouquet of roses that at first he thought was sent by his boyfriend, Nate Matthews. Alarm bells rang when Nate said that he hadn’t sent them. Sean panicked when he kept receiving flowers over the next days, and what worried him more was that there was always a single black rose in the middle of other colored ones. Together they tried to find out the meaning of all this. They found no answers. Sean and Nate didn’t realize that a wicked plot against Sean had been set up by an obsessed fan who was helped by a brother who had promised to always take care of him.

Release Me by Iyana Jenna

Thank you very much, Nikki, for having me today to talk about my Romance on the Go book, Release Me. It came out on June 28 from Evernight Publishing.

Before I go on with the book, I’d like to talk a bit about how to handle negative criticism. To me negative criticism is just the same with the positive one. I will listen and pay attention to both of them because they are all important. For negative criticism, I will read carefully what those critics tell me and do something about it. If it’s something that I need to improve, I will gladly do it. But if it has nothing to do with my writing or my genre, then I’ll just forget it and move on. There are some things I learn from the writing business. One is that you can never please everyone. There are always people who are not satisfied with what you write or just not into it. Yet there is a silver lining with this condition. Not everybody will hate your book. Even if someone says your book is terrible and isn’t worth your money, there are always others who happen to like what you write. Because, yeah, people do like different kinds of books.

Blurb:

Taking a break from dealing with his father’s clients on legal matters, Nicholas Haynes went out to the sea on his yacht—only to find a man floating in the water. The man was still alive, much to Nicholas’s relief.

Gregory Phillips was a private investigator and his last job almost turned him into fish food if not for Nicholas. Little did he know that the main suspect in his case was one of Nicholas’ father’s clients. When Nicholas insisted on taking care of Gregory after the incident that almost killed him, can he trust Nicholas enough with his life?

Excerpt:

Stanley Haynes threw the newspaper, and it landed with a slap on Nicholas’s plate. The headlines blared at Nicholas as though his father had shouted at him.

Heir to US Banking Chain Wedded?

“You ever plan to tell us about this, Nicholas?”

Nicholas glanced briefly at his mother sitting across from him, but she kept stirring the cooling coffee in her cup. Nicholas could see a smile flicker in her eyes. He shrugged.

“Come on, Dad. You know it was impossible for me to talk about it before everything was done.”

“Are you saying you don’t trust me, or your mom—” Stanley threw a glance at his wife, and his eyes widened. “You knew about this?”

She threw her hands up.

“God, no, honey. I wouldn’t lie to you.”

“All right, all right.” Stanley took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. “Is it that Phillips guy?”

“Of course. Who else?” Nicholas grinned.

His mother went back to stirring her coffee. Her voice was calm when she asked, “When was it, Nicholas? How come both of us didn’t know anything about it?”

“A moment after Greg was released from the hospital.”

“Wow. That fast?”

Nicholas chuckled. “Yeah. Now you can’t accuse me of being a playboy anymore.”

“That’s good, dear.” His mother took his hand, and Nicholas squeezed hers gently. “So those journalists—they just found out the other day?”

“They’ve just seen this ring, that’s all.” Nicholas lifted his left hand and eyed the simple platinum band around his ring finger. Gregory had exactly the same kind of ring around his finger.

****

A month earlier

It was the lulling sounds of the waves and the gentle breeze above the vast, boundless ocean that Nicholas loved most. He could spend days, even weeks, drifting seemingly without any course and purpose on his boat, all by himself. After months dealing with his father’s clients about legal matters, he was always desperate for some time alone. Sometimes he just couldn’t understand why he had to work twice as hard as the other employees in his father’s bank when he was his only son. However, most of the time, he just couldn’t see it any other way. His father was not the type to want to spoil his family. Everyone had to earn what life had given to them. Nobody was allowed to simply ask and receive.

Today, though, he ended up not alone.

This is a part of my blogging in ‘A Granted Wish’ Blog Tour (that now will also feature another story with the title of ‘Glowing Dim as an Ember’) and I’d like to extend my gratitude to Nikki Prince for the opportunity to guest blog on her site. On to my stories

A Granted Wish

Genre: M/M Young Adult
Word count: 1,600
Summary: Being told over and over that he is too young to have a girlfriend, or a boyfriend as the case may be, 15-year-old Cody sends a wish to whoever up there willing to grant it.

This story was inspired by the movie Blue Lagoon and I playfully dubbed it Blue Lagoon 2. It has silliness of a boy that is entangled in a case of ‘be careful what you wish for.’

Excerpt

Kyle inches slowly, creeps in, and, stealing a quick glance towards the boy sitting next to him, he smiles. He looks down; can feel their fingers entwined together underneath their school bags. He loves seeing the blush on the other boy’s face, feel the slight tremor running through his hand–though from excitement or fear he knows not. They are inside the school bus after all.
He swallows his disappointment when Aiden pulls his hand back. Right. He tries not to show his feeling, looks up and sees the boy’s shy smile toward him, making him feel warm all over.
That’s exactly what he feels every time Aiden is around. In the classroom, at PE sessions, during breaks. He can’t wait. Can’t wait to see him again once he loses sight of him.
“Kyle? What are you doing out there? Get inside and change. Dinner’s ready.”
Startled, Kyle whirls around to find his dad standing at the doorway. He doesn’t realize he’s been standing at the gate, watching the bus that carries Aiden vanish round the corner at the end of the street.

Glowing Dim as an Ember

Genre: Young Adult
Word count: 2,700
Summary: 14 year-old Etienne keeps getting flashes of someone else’s memories. Dancing bears and painted wings are not exactly the things he meets every day especially since he is just a homeless boy living on the cold streets of Paris.
This story was inspired by a song Once Upon a December and the story of Anastasia, the lost princess from Russia. But it’s by no means a story of her as this one is a tale of the boy Etienne and another named Eric in the year of 1840 and before.

Excerpt
At first he thought he heard it from afar, the roar of a gun blaring, a voice screaming. Or perhaps it was a dream.
But someone was pounding at the door, and he leaped out of bed. Feet entangled in the blankets, he nearly toppled face first onto the floor when a pair of hands caught him and he gasped, panicked.
“You have to go. You have to go!”
“Mama?”
His mother grabbed his boots and pulled them onto his feet, then snatched up his coat and put it on him; she pushed him urgently toward the window.
“Mama!”
His room was on the second story and though the snow outside was thick and soft to cushion his fall, it was pitch black and he really didn’t want to stumble around, cold and with probably a sprained ankle as well.
"Go!" His mother was getting hysterical. “Anna is waiting outside. You will be safe.”
A Granted Wish will be out on April 28, 2013 and Glowing Dim as an Ember on May 5, 2013.
